Michael Voris- The New Church


Michael Voris has finally admitted that there is a "new" Catholic Church emerging. Has he finally capitulated to modernism? Has he decided that progress is, after all, inevitable? He explains all about the new emerging Church in his latest Vortex episode. Travelling around the world, meeting and speaking with groups of faithful Catholics has given him excellent insight into what is going on inside the Church all around the globe:



As I have said before, I think Voris is a bit like a modern day Old Testament prophet. His message is often really uncomfortable, but his focus is always about supernatural faith, against error, and for God and His Church.

His articulation of the concerns of so many who contact me: the confounding of the orthodox, the lauding of heterodox by Church establishment, the apathy of bishops, the way that being good, and loyal, and faithful- supporting more reverence and catechesis, only seems to get you into lots of hot water with the diocese.

The essential point Voris makes is right, I see it increasingly myself and it has long puzzled me to be honest. The net result of bishops supporting heretics and liberals is apostasy. People will, are, and have walked away from the Church if it doesn't stand for anything.

What do they honestly think it looks like, that we are this Church with all this doctrine, which "no one really believes anymore". Who on earth would want to be a part of any organisation like that? If they continue to insist on watering down doctrine and attacking loyal, orthodox Catholics, there will be no one left!

Voris notes that the "Church of nice" is fading away, and the eternal Church remains. It remains because what it stands for is objective truth.

    This has been my experience too.
    I do miss Protect the Pope........What sort of Catholic would rejoice in the fact that that he has been silenced ? I simply cannot understand how his blog could have been considered uncharitable compared with other things that face the Church today. It is all very confusing . We desperately need proper leadership and support from our bishops, instead we are told to "hold our tongues" . It is all very strange.

    Thanks for this Mark. I really do both admire and like Michael Voris. He is able to represent the feelings and beliefs of many. Huzzah for the "New" Church and Boo to the "Nu" Church.

    I really don't do Michael Voris: neither the style nor, usually, the substance, do anything except (three lines of rant removed). I only started it because I thought I'd give @sitsio's pick a chance.

    But he is spot on here. Completely right.

    Unfortunately I live in one of those parishes, in one of those dioceses, in one of those provinces, in one of those episcopal conferences, and the next, the last, level up after that is not really helping at the moment.

Real Life Catholics on BBC TV defend Church Teaching on Contraception.

This morning on BBC TV Sunday Morning Live there was a good debate inspired by Melinda Gates (who identifies as Catholic) comments about the pope potentially changing doctrine on contraception. The Catholic contributors were Fr Paddy McCafferty, Clare Short and Obianuju Ekeocha. I think they did really well. Uju's direction is very interesting and easily wrong foots those who want to impose western ideas of morality on Africans in an imperialistic way. Interesting that the presenter agrees with her on this. Fr Paddy gave a great account of his experience as a priest. He was compassionate, realistic and honest, while upholding the value and importance of the doctrine. Clare said she had experience of both ways and the Catholic way is better by far. I thought that was awesome! I especially liked her focus on equality and bringing the responsibility of both husband & wife into the discussion. New Head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith

I can hardly bring myself to write about yesterday's announcement that Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Victor Manuel Fernández to be the new head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith replacing Cardinal Luis Francisco Ladaria Ferrer, S.J. (now 79) who was previously the secretary to Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Muller. Fernández is certainly one of the Pope's men, his whole career has been crafted and guided by Jorge Bergoglio. He headed the Faculty of Theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina (CUA) and then on December 15, 2009, the then Cardinal Bergoglio appointed Fernandez as rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina. However, much to the frustration of Cardinal Bergoglio, Fernandez was not able to take the oath of office until May 20, 2011, after he had answered objections to his appointment raised by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which assessed concerns about the orthodoxy of certain elements of his scholarship
