No Catholic could be this wrong, surely? So I looked it up on Facebook. You can too. I took a screenshot, incredulous: This must be a parody account? I checked out the "about" page. Seems legit. The profile pic is the Bishop of Limerick Brendan Leahy who also features on the FB page, which is very Pope Francis (which make sense). Not surprising Ireland is in so much trouble! One thing's for sure, if the Bishop was condemning homosexual acts or advocating the old Mass, you can bet Archbishop Martin would be down on him like a ton of bricks. A huge part of the problem across the world is that the sort of propagation of misinformation, supplanting the Catholic faith with some kind of superstitious mysticism, pantheism or world-religion, is completely acceptable, even here ...

Last night, the Irish Taoiseach (PM) Leo Varadkar confirmed that a referendum on Repealing the Eighth Amendment, and replacing it with a clause specifically enabling the Parliament to legislate for abortion. Not only would the right to life be stripped from unborn babies, the abortion regime being drafted is even more extreme than Britain's. This video explains why it is so crucial to #SaveThe8th . Please do take a minute to share it - especially with your Irish family & friends. This really is a battle of good against evil. And don't forget to pray that Ireland seizes this opportunity to lead Europe towards the light!

As a person of Irish heritage, I feel drawn to comment on this, or at least to point my readers to some useful facts about this horrible story. It first broke in 2014 and I posted about it here , giving an eye witness account of the experience in the Bon Secours home.  Now with the release of the results of the investigation into the contents of the grave, the media storm has been re-ignited in full force ! There is a lot of vicious hatred being poured out in the direction of the Catholic Church in Ireland at the moment as a result of this. No one seems particularly interested in the truth. I was recently in Ireland for a sad occasion. Whilst there I had a chat with a priest of sixty or so years of age, in the company of some of my aunts of a similar vintage. One very dear aunt mentioned to father that she was worried that some communicants at Mass she knows had not been to confession for many years and were living in irregular marriages, or in similar positions which would be widely regarded by all those present in the conversation as problematic for a Catholic going up to communion. The priest didn't hesitate and replied that he didn't think such things mattered. That God sorts all that out and he doesn't worry about it. I was, in a word, gutted. But, coward that I am, I didn't say anything...Was it for me to contradict the priest? In over-clericalised Ireland, would anyone think I was anything other than extremely petulant? Mother and I exchanged pained glances across the table and I bit my tongue. After some reflection, I now I wish I had spoken...

RTE News  reports that hundreds of people queued in the rain outside Holy Trinity Church in Cork on Sunday, to venerate the relics of St Anthony of Padua. Just one more example of the extraordinary strength of the faith and Catholicity of Irish Catholics--very powerful witness! I think this demonstrates, as I have stated previously , the deep rooted faith of the Irish people, which desperately needs nourishing, after the scandals of recent years. I often find myself discussing (as indeed I did earlier today) how and why so many Catholic devotions seem to have declined over recent years. Many of the practices I remember from my own childhood are alien to youngsters today. You rarely see a holy picture, or hear of a family praying the Rosary together. Even grace before and after meals is infrequently observed. Whether he realises it or not, the Irish Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, who will forever more be known as Enda-life Kenny, has excommunicated himself as a result of championing the abortion legislation which was passed in Ireland at about 12:30am this morning. Kenny's singular pursuit of this policy has been shocking. He forbade a free-vote on a matter of conscience, then he expelled four TDs from Fine Gael for voting according to their consciences. Today on Sky News , the legislation is still being wrongly reported as having come about as the result of the death of Savita Halappanavar  for want of an abortion. He needs to be made aware how much he has separated himself from Christ and His Church, and that his immortal soul is in peril.
