Peter's Pence Suspended

Some people have been saying for a long while that the intrigue and heresy of the Vatican won't bring the present regime to an end, but money might.

The scandalous revelation that only a tenth of the annual Peter's Pence collection actually goes to charity has probably not helped the financial situation at the Holy See.

Last October, Italian journalist Gianluigi Nuzzi claimed that the Vatican lost nearly €44million last year while its property empire made a loss for the first time.
Despite this, there is a serious lack of reporting on the financial scandals surrounding the Vatican which has been noted by numerous prominent journalists:
Church Militant reports today that "the closure of churches following the Wuhan virus pandemic has forced Pope Francis to postpone the annual collection for Peter's Pence until churches reopen.

"In view of the current health crisis, the Holy Father has decided that, for this year 2020, the Peter's Pence Collection, which traditionally takes place around the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul, on June 29, will be transferred throughout the world to the XXVII Sunday of Ordinary Time, Oct. 4, the day dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi," the Vatican announced Wednesday."

The Vatican's website urges Catholics to donate to Peter's Pence as a "gesture of charity, a way of supporting the activity of the pope and the universal Church in favoring especially the poorest and churches in difficulty. It is also an invitation to pay attention and be near to new forms of poverty and fragility."

But donors, especially from the United States, have been increasingly hesitant to contribute to the scandal-plagued fund after recent revelations that up to 90% of Peter's Pence money was being used to plug administrative deficits.

"What the Church doesn't advertise is that most of that collection, worth more than €50 million ($55 million) annually," disclosed Vaticanista Francis Rocca, "goes toward plugging the hole in the Vatican's own administrative budget, while as little as 10% is spent on charitable works, according to people familiar with the funds."

The reality of the situation is that Leftists/ Progressives simply don't donate money unless there's something Personal incentive. Pope Francis has made all the right noises perhaps, but he has consistently failed to deliver the goods on a whole range of progressive issues.

Anecdotally at least, we might assume that the biggest donors to the Holy See are Germany Given that most donors are faithful Catholics who actually believe in the Church's mission, one might see that the ongoing corruption has stopped a lot of the US money. Ze Germanz finances come from the Church tax and they are not happy that Francis has failed to deliver on all their heretical stuff to the point where they are, for all intents and purposes in de facto schism.

Then it seems that the Chinese cheque has failed to clear!

  1. We now have extra months in which to make more Catholics aware that Peter's Pence has been used to support invasion of the U.S. by pro-abortion voters, Hillary Clinton's 2016 pro-abortion campaign (at the very moment she was promising to coerce the Catholic Church to support abortion), and other nefarious causes.
