More Error From Dim-Witted Dominican Archbishop McMahon
The sad state of the episcopacy in England and Wales, is marked by a lack of teaching, courage and anything approaching orthodoxy, and this mess seems to be summed up by the continuing errors of the Archbishop of the once great, now dying Liverpool Archdiocese.
The fact that McMahon is vice president of the CBCEW tells you all you need to know about why our bishops are so utterly useless.
What is particularly interesting about McMahon is that he is so vocal about a certain issue.
What happens when your bishop teaches error these days? There's no succour from the Church, episcopal policy is to lie, obfuscate and ignore. So we have the media. Thank God there's some form of redress!
Lifesite reports that Fr. Mark Moran, the parish priest of St. Wilfrid’s parish in Widnes, announced in the parish newsletter March 27 that the church would be holding a Mass specifically for the “LGBTQ+ community.” Fr. Moran also asked for members of the parish to help with refreshments before and after the MassIn response, Fr. Moran noted how his parish had “simply been asked to host the Mass this time.” He noted that in his understanding, it “is simply offered to those who desire to follow Christ more closely within the Church and receive encouragement from others who are trying to do the same.”
Fr. Moran directed LifeSiteNews to Fr. Stephen Maloney for further information. He had formerly served as the archdiocesan vocations director, who “with the blessing of the Archbishop has been asked to support this part of our church community.”
Meanwhile, Archbishop McMahon responded:
I note the comments you make, but I have no intention of asking Fr. Mark Moran to cancel this Mass. I would direct you to Pope Francis’ comment that “the LGBTQ+ community are at the heart of the church.”
LifeSiteNews has been informed of a number of concerned Catholics who have contacted Archbishop McMahon, asking him to cancel the Mass. I have also been contacted by a concerned parishioner who wrote the McMahon. This was the response he received with the names redacted:
The Archdiocese of Liverpool is certainly 'dying'. The last decent Arch. was the saintly and scholarly George Andrew Beck. On his retirement the rot and an infestation set in with the coming of the disastrous Derek Worlock. He and Hume, then with the help of 'The Magic Circle', have imposed on the Catholic laity a procession of mitred dimwits.
ReplyDeleteSt Wilfrid’s parish newsletter is announcing another ‘gay pride’ mass in the archdiocese for first week in July. This time it is at a church in Anfield, Liverpool.

Widnes.
There is another gay pride ‘mass’ taking place in St Wilfrid’s parish on Feb 26. Thought you might be interested. I have asked Bishop Rawsthorne a number of times for a comment on this but he remains silent.

I was born in, grew up in and attended Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Liverpool. I left the Archdiocese and later returned to teach in one of its primary schools. Liverpool under Worlock became ground zero for everything that was mad, bad and dangerous to know. When Worlock became Archbishop in 1976, 45% of baptised Catholics practised and attended weekly Sunday Mass. When he passed away in 1996, that had slumped to 19% plus the total population of Catholics had also declined. Now, only 10%, or 50,000, now practise and most of those are over 60. The only decent thing to happen in Liverpool Archdiocese since Worlock passed away is the arrival of The FSSP in Warrington. On another 20 years. when the Boomers have largely died off, Liverpool will have ceased to exist. There will be very low numbers of practising Catholics amd they will be fragmented across a wide area. So much for Worlock's National Pastoral Congress of 1980.
