Fr John A. Perricone PhD is a professor of philosophy, a prolific writer and lecturer from New York. He is someone I have had the pleasure of meeting at some length and he was immediately recognisable as a great intellect and a talented homilist, with a wealth of knowledge to draw upon to make his points. He writes on the Synod in Crisis Magazine : “That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light:  and that which you hear in the ear,  preach ye upon the  housetops.” ( Matthew 10:27) It seems as though navel-gazing is quite the fashion these days —even in the Church, if Synodal “listening” is any indication. The problem with navel-gazing,  a fortiori  Synodal “listening,” is that it prefers solipsistic reverie to the bold injunctions of Christ Our Savior. Rather than considering ways for Holy Church to bring the fire of her divine teachings to a wheezing culture drawing its last breath, it chooses the exhausted psychobabble of the transgressive seventie...

The wonderful & erudite Fr. John Perricone, who I have had the pleasure of meeting, has written a most excellent article in Crisis Magazine which simply must be read. It offers great comfort for those of us who are incredulous at the counter Catholic nonsense which seems to be so keenly promoted by much of the hierarchy at this time. In it, he states: "After the pontificates of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, Catholics believed that the bitter years of Newspeak and Wonderland had abated, and sanity was on the horizon. No such respite. Theological Wonderland has returned with a vengeance from the lips of the hierarchal upper crust.
