Simon Green - New Revelations

Image
New revelations came to light yesterday about LGBTQI+ author Simon Green thanks to a concerned member of Twitter. As previously reported , Green was cancelled from appearing at a book signing at Saint John Fisher School in Purley after concerned parents wrote to the Archdiocese to point out that Green's books are largely comprised of blasphemy and gay porn. Green threw a fit on Twitter and attempted to rally the gay outrage troops and this worked to a large extent. The techniques are, by now, familiar. One tactic is compelled speech, which can force you to say something that you believe isn't true to force you to act or speak against your own conscience. Like the Christian doctor who was struck off for referring refusing to use a transgender woman's pronouns  or the academics who have been hounded out of their institutions for stating something most people throughout all of human history have believed to be true : that there is a real difference between the sexes. This i...

Catholic Education: It Is On

Image
When t he story broke about the Archdiocese of Southwark standing up for children in Catholic Schools, I recognised this could be a crunch point for Catholic education in the UK. The pressure on Catholic schools has been slowly increasing, just as it did before Catholic adoption agencies were forced to close . The problem is, Catholic Schools face an enemy on the inside: teachers who are antagonistic to the Catholic ethos they agree to promote. Faced with a forced closure on Thursday, due to striking staff who said they were “fighting for inclusive education” and against a “very concerning precedent for LGBT rights and representation in schools”, the Archdiocese has come out fighting! Writing in The Catholic Network , Joseph Kelly says : It seems hard to accept that the school chose to emphasise simply that this was an obviously well-known and talented new writer, without giving any thought to the material he represented. Kelly continues: it is perfectly in order for a Catholic schoo...

New Archbishop of Southwark Announced

Image
At 11am this morning it was announced that John Wilson, up to now Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster, had been appointed Archbishop of Southwark by Pope Francis (his installation is to be on the 25th July at St George's Cathedral). This is an extremely important appointment for England and Wales and has taken quite a few people by surprise it seems. The archdiocese has an area of 3,000 km2 (1,200 sq mi) and covers the London Boroughs south of the Thames, the county of Kent and the Medway Unitary Authority. The Metropolitan See is in Southwark where the archbishop's seat is located at the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of Saint George The see is currently administered by the Most Reverend Peter Smith, LL.B., J.C.D. ++Smith has been largely inactive in Southwark for the last ten years or so, as were his two predecessors (both of whom are still living) which means the archdiocese is desperately in need of some inertia. It is widely rumoured that ++Smith was on a personal count...
