Scratching my head

Image
Fr. Longnecker has posted this review of Pope Francis’ speech at Chile’s pontifical university. It shows just how polarised things are between (in my opinion) those of us who are faithful to the Church and honest about the present situation and those who are sycophants with an agenda. What agenda? Well, some clearly want to change the Church; modernise it. Faggioli belongs to the Bologna School. He literally believes Vatican II was a second Pentecost, that subsequently founded a new religion pic.twitter.com/9AM5d5yw6z — Catholic Sat (@CatholicSat) July 28, 2017 Some have invested so much time and effort into refuting criticisms of this papacy, to show any crack of acknowledgement at this stage would constitute a totally collapse in credibility: Pope cathedral speech a fine example of a spiritual master leading a Church prone to temptations in desolation. #FranciscoEnChile — Austen Ivereigh (@austeni) January 16, 2018 It is Austen Ivereigh who draws Fr. True Discipleship under Pope Francis - what are your options?

Fr. Dwight Longnecker is a priest I have long admired, read and followed. He is orthodox, honest & forthright. Not afraid to stand up for the faith. I was interested to read his blog today , in which he basically attacks those who are being pushed into sedevacantism by Pope Francis. ' Is that a thing? ' you may legitimately ask. Well, there's loads of it out there, as Fr. Dwight remarks in his post: As increasing numbers of conservative Catholics become impatient with Pope Francis, I’m afraid this dilemma is becoming more acute. I hear rumblings and grumblings about the Pope, about Amoris Letitia and just about everything else, and the grumblings are becoming increasingly sour and nasty. But what are you going to do, become a sedevacantist? Good luck with that. In fact, if you’re so fed up with the pope you should make that choice. Is he the pope or not? Conservative Catholics need to face the truth. Francis is the Pope. Get used to it and get busy being C...

More Foxes in the Vatican Henhouse

Fr James Martin SJ A week or so ago Fr Dwight Longnecker posted this blog . It's one of those posts that contains so much truth I felt it was well worth sharing here. It's on stuff that makes me shake my head. It seems really obvious. But the powers that be seem completely blind to this reality, why? I can not say. He's talking about the failure within the Church of England to maintain any integrity with respect to their promise to maintain a kind of two party settlement within the communion. I blogged about the ousting of the Anglican Bishop Philip North here a little while back . Fr Dwight sees this as a definitive moment for Anglicanism and the betrayal of that two party compromise. He is not alone in this observation as many others have noted. But he also sees that this is a frequently occurring modern malaise when we compromise truth in order to be 'inclusive'. With the recent appointment of Fr James Martin SJ to the Vatican communications team, F...

Nun Serves as Parish Priest in Two Parishes?!!

Chaucer fans might get the reference! I was very concerned to read this post from Fr. Dwight Longnecker on Saturday. Fr. Dwight is an American who has spent most of his life living and working in England. He was brought up in an Evangelical home in Pennsylvania. After graduating from the fundamentalist Bob Jones University with a degree in Speech and English, he went to study theology at Oxford University. He was eventually ordained as an Anglican priest and served as a curate, a school chaplain in Cambridge and a country parson on the Isle of Wight. Realising that he and the Anglican Church were on divergent paths, in 1995 Fr. Dwight and his family were received into the Catholic Church. To read Fr Longenecker’s conversion story or to listen to the audio version connect to the archived articles section of his blog. This is his post (with my emphasis) which I re-blog in full here because I think it is extremely important that we are all aware of how bad things are in s...
