Is Bishop Athanasius Schneider our Saint John Fisher? I'm not joking. If he isn't, he is one of a small number of faithful clergy prepared to stand up to the destruction of the Bergoglian pontificate. Perhaps we can add George Cardinal Pell to that list as well as those pictured above as he recently warned us against the "suicidal synod" . Bishop Scheider is amazing in his faith and consistency. He is knowledgeable and wise. He brings light, not heat and he has incredible courage, confidently pointing out the errors of Pope Francis to his face.  I found this interview extremely comforting, coming as it does at a time when the pope himself is persecuting Catholics precisely because he does not want them to adhere to what the Church has always taught. This is a very long chat but very informative and interesting if you can find the time. As always, I love the way Michael Matt articulates the power & beauty of Catholicism, both in context of family life and the positive benefits for the wider society. Personally, I find this profoundly evangelistic; it is what calls me to, and affirms my practice of the faith, and I feel it is a narrative which many, many family men would find equally attractive and compelling, yet it is a perspective we hear so rarely. Frankly, I can't hear enough of it! In addition, this discussion also covers a lot of information about the importance of the liturgy and the history of the traditionalist movement. I have watched this about three times now. I think it is a very articulate, balanced and intelligent appraisal of the current situation. It speaks FOR the dignity of the office of the Pope. FOR respect for the person of the Pope. FOR prayer, FOR unity and a call to fight for our Church! We have seen increasing divisions and this is not of Christ. I think the reason for the division is the obfuscation of the face of Christ by Pope Francis. The Pope clouds the truth, fails to give clear answers to any questions and challenges the long-held understanding of the Gospel held and taught by the Catholic Church, and indeed all Christians! In the face of such demonic assault, we see nothing but toadying and sycophancy from all but a very few shepherds.

The Paris-Chartres Pilgrimage occurs every year on the Feast of Pentecost in early summer, and is a multi-generational, multi-national gathering of Catholics who draw closer to God through the centuries-old act of pilgrimage. The walk is roughly 62 miles over 3 days—beginning at daybreak on the Saturday before Pentecost, and ending with an afternoon mass on the Monday after Pentecost. The trek takes 8,000-10,000 pilgrims from the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, through the French countryside to the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Chartres. Participants brave the weather, blisters, and humble food and accommodations as an act of faith and an act of reparation in these modern times. At the introduction of the Catholic Identity Conference 2017, emcee Michael J. Matt speaks of the present crisis in the Church as one without precedent. He explains why is it worse than the Arian crisis, and how the modern Church has brought this on by reneging on her own claim to be the sole means of salvation. Michael then gives background information on Bishop Athanasius Schneider as he introduces His Excellency as this year's CIC honoured guest speaker. This is where I feel I am at the moment 100%. The almost amusing attempts to pretend that there's no problem with the Church at the moment I spoke about yesterday look even more ridiculous in the context of these two excellent interviews from The Remnant . Granted, The Remnant is not best known for balanced and impartial reporting, it unreservedly has a traditionalist perspective, but these interviews with laymen familiar to English Catholics are very well conducted, gentle and balanced. It is certainly my experience that we all appear much more partisan in print than we might actually be in real life. Actual conversations always reveal much more of a person that the printed word where you are trying to convey a message often influenced by your passion and commitment.
