In this video he asks some very important questions based on the vast wealth of knowledge available to Catholic Christians from the Magisterium: the teachings of the Church. The intellectual tradition, teaching & dogma of the Church is like a 2,000 year old library. No other institution has been thinking about thinking for as long as the Catholic Church. Why then, specifically with regard to the ridiculous "Synod on Synodality", would we seek to add detail before we understand the great wisdom we already hold? Synods historically are called to address heresy and controversy. The Church does not speak unless there is a challenge, she doesn't when it is not necessary: she lets the library speak for itself and invites us to study it. Another excellent video presentation from Brian. Here he addresses the most frustrating and universal issue in the Catholic Church - and probably Christianity today. Everywhere I look, I see a truth reflected in existential reality: the progressive agenda has failed. Despite this undeniable truth, it seems the purveyors of progressive ideology see only one reason for this: we are not progressive enough! They reach this conclusion despite the clear evidence that the only growth is in places where we hold fast to the truth and the Traditions of our faith. I'm not blogging much as we all struggle to face the encroaching COVID19 pandemic. I am extremely busy at work and worried about the situation for all the same reasons I'm sure you are. You're all in my prayers. I don't believe this is a time of division, or pointing out frustrations or weakness, but a time of unity and solidarity. Brian Holdsworth puts it well in this video. Our decisions are based on trust. Social media only serves to exacerbate our political polarisation – people are so sure that their “side” is right and the other “side” are idiots. As this continues, we lose our shared humanity. COVID19 does not discriminate between right & left: we are all susceptible to the same suffering, we all share our humanity. Can we see people on all sides of the divide that we thought mattered so much as our brothers and sisters? Compassion means to suffer with someone else. I can't really recall ever seeing a "Twitter Storm" as violent or swift as the one I saw form around a group of high school boys from Covington Catholic High School at the end of the March for Life in Washington DC last week. Almost everyone on my social media timeline was posting about it. I think its importance can't be over-estimated and reveals quite a lot about the present situation in the Church. This video tells the story of what happened: Fr James Martin , Fr Edward Beck & Fr Dan Horan were three Catholic priests who rushed in to judge the Covington boys condemning them unequivocally. Fr Horan, who, like Fr Martin is a prominent advocate for homosexuality, even used the incident to attack the March for Life itself, which he described as "repulsive and futile". So the Youth Synod is finally over (thank God). It is already widely being dubbed "The Smuggler Synod" The smuggling began in the Synod’s preparatory phase. A “pre-Synod” meeting of young people in March 2018 was thoroughly rigged, according to the accounts of some brave souls who were there because the Synod managers either misidentified them or wanted them as cover. Working sessions were conducted long into the night, the goal being to get inserted into the meeting’s final document a number of progressive Catholic approaches to human sexuality. One discussion group leader banned an opening prayer before the group’s meetings – what had been proposed was a joint recitation of the Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary, and the Doxology – saying that this might make the non-Catholics present uncomfortable. The Synod managers and the new Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life trumpeted this meeting as a great advance in “listening;” it was an exercise in manipulation and spin. An...
