Heretical Cardinal Promoted to Council of Nine

Image
Last year Cardinal Jean Claude Hollerich, President of the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) and General Rapporteur of the Synod of Bishops, spoke on the subject of homosexuality in an interview with the German news agency KNA . The cardinal said: "I believe that the sociological-scientific basis of this teaching is no longer correct”. He went on: "the way the Pope has expressed himself in the past [on homosexuality] can lead to a change in doctrine. [ … ] I think it is time for a fundamental revision of doctrine”. In his "Demos" memo , Cardinal Pell stated: "Cardinal Hollerich rejects the Christian teaching on sexuality. The Papacy is silent. This is doubly significant because the Cardinal is explicitly heretical; he does not use code or hints. If the Cardinal were to continue without Roman correction, this would represent another deeper breakdown of discipline, with few (any?) precedents in history. The Congregatio...

"Church’s teachings on sexuality are profoundly protective, not punitive" -- ++Cordileone

Image
The Pillar has an interview with Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone in which he gives a beautiful exposition of Church teaching regarding many of the difficult issues we face in society today.  Would that we had such clarity from the Vatican!! Salvatore Cordileone is the Archbishop of San Francisco, without doubt the hub of homosexuality in the USA. He is someone I have had the privilege of meeting .  He has to walk a difficult line, especially given the demographic he works within. One could see how, even if he were a silent administrator, he would be hated just because he represents the Catholic Church. When I met him, he explained that you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. In this interview he defends Church teaching providing some much needed clarity. I want to say "bravely defends" but, lets face it, this is just what all bishops should be doing. He says: "the Church’s teachings on sexuality are profoundly protective, not punitive. Just look at th...

A Synod Designed to Push Lies

Image
On Instagram, thebasiccatholic has shared some very interesting information. So what we have here is an eye witness account of the reality of the Synod on Synodality. All the discussion from faithful Catholics leading up to this synod has been puzzling over why, given the clear and documented lack of faith and formation among the general Catholic population ( just of of many recent examples here ), Rome would seek to consult lay people and even non-Catholics ( see no. 6 here ) about the direction the Church should take. Revitalise it how? By walking away from Church teachings? We have seen that modelled in numerous Protestant denominations and we know the result is irrelevance and oblivion . It is widely recognised that the majority of baptised Catholics are not practising, and, of those that are practising, only a small minority are able to articulate their faith with any clarity. Given this reality, it seems a forgone conclusion what any survey will reveal: the lack of belief i...

Brueggemann, Martin & Christian Doctrine

Image
In 1986, aware that some within the Church were presenting an overly positive view of homosexuality, the CDF issued a letter to bishops on the pastoral care of homosexual persons. It made extremely clear what the Church has consistently taught on this issue and why: "The issue of homosexuality and the moral evaluation of homosexual acts have increasingly become a matter of public debate, even in Catholic circles. Since this debate often advances arguments and makes assertions inconsistent with the teaching of the Catholic Church, it is quite rightly a cause for concern to all engaged in the pastoral ministry, and this Congregation has judged it to be of sufficiently grave and widespread importance to address to the Bishops of the Catholic Church this Letter on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons. 2. Naturally, an exhaustive treatment of this complex issue cannot be attempted here, but we will focus our reflection within the distinctive context of the Catholic moral perspectiv...

Msgr Grindr is Back!

Image
Remember the scandal broken by The Pillar in July 2021 ? After being caught using the homosexual hook up app Grindr for casual sexual encounters, the Secretary of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops quietly resigned and disappeared. He suffered no sanction and no investigation. Now he is back, recently appointed to a parish in the diocese of LaCrosse in Wisconsin: What of accountability? What of repentance? Should Burrill's new parishioners just expect gay liaisons as a normal part of their priest's life? How will he approach marriage preparation? Would you trust him in the confessional with your son? The fact that they seem to think this is acceptable is beyond understanding! This is a man who will be responsible for the moral formation of hundreds of people. Has he no shame? Yes we all make mistakes, but to be a priest in such a high position while living a double life raises numerous important questions.  It seems to say that the bishop is complicit to some degree, es...

Simon Green - New Revelations

Image
New revelations came to light yesterday about LGBTQI+ author Simon Green thanks to a concerned member of Twitter. As previously reported , Green was cancelled from appearing at a book signing at Saint John Fisher School in Purley after concerned parents wrote to the Archdiocese to point out that Green's books are largely comprised of blasphemy and gay porn. Green threw a fit on Twitter and attempted to rally the gay outrage troops and this worked to a large extent. The techniques are, by now, familiar. One tactic is compelled speech, which can force you to say something that you believe isn't true to force you to act or speak against your own conscience. Like the Christian doctor who was struck off for referring refusing to use a transgender woman's pronouns  or the academics who have been hounded out of their institutions for stating something most people throughout all of human history have believed to be true : that there is a real difference between the sexes. This i...

Catholic Education: It Is On

Image
When t he story broke about the Archdiocese of Southwark standing up for children in Catholic Schools, I recognised this could be a crunch point for Catholic education in the UK. The pressure on Catholic schools has been slowly increasing, just as it did before Catholic adoption agencies were forced to close . The problem is, Catholic Schools face an enemy on the inside: teachers who are antagonistic to the Catholic ethos they agree to promote. Faced with a forced closure on Thursday, due to striking staff who said they were “fighting for inclusive education” and against a “very concerning precedent for LGBT rights and representation in schools”, the Archdiocese has come out fighting! Writing in The Catholic Network , Joseph Kelly says : It seems hard to accept that the school chose to emphasise simply that this was an obviously well-known and talented new writer, without giving any thought to the material he represented. Kelly continues: it is perfectly in order for a Catholic schoo...

More Error From Dim-Witted Dominican Archbishop McMahon

Image
The sad state of the episcopacy in England and Wales, is marked by a lack of teaching, courage and anything approaching orthodoxy, and this mess seems to be summed up by the continuing errors of the Archbishop of the once great, now dying Liverpool Archdiocese. The fact that McMahon is vice president of the CBCEW tells you all you need to know about why our bishops are so utterly useless. What is particularly interesting about McMahon is that he is so vocal about a certain issue. What happens when your bishop teaches error these days? There's no succour from the Church, episcopal policy is to lie, obfuscate and ignore. So we have the media. Thank God there's some form of redress! Lifesite reports  that Fr. Mark Moran, the parish priest of St. Wilfrid’s parish in Widnes, announced in the parish newsletter March 27 that the church would be holding a Mass specifically for the “LGBTQ+ community.” Fr. Moran also asked for members of the parish to help with refreshments before a...
