  Father François-Marie Dermine, promoter of an annual international course on exorcism in Rome, discusses his recent popular work about the devil, offering keys to discernment on this controversial and sensitive topic in this article in the National Catholic Register. For the second time in recent months, the superior general of the Society of Jesus has proclaimed publicly this week that the devil is a symbol rather than a person. Fr Arturo Sosa, the son of a Christian Socialist finance minister and superior general of the Society of Jesus on August 21st denied the article of faith that the devil is a person asserting instead that "the devil exists as a symbolic reality". Recently, Pope Francis spoke at morning Mass about the devil. This is something you probably won't find reported on mass media, it is really disquieting that the head of 1.1 billion Catholics, a man of science, a man with such a wealth of experience, a man with such an inspirational, humble, way about him, should believe in the reality of evil spirits.
