Heretical Cardinal Promoted to Council of Nine

Last year Cardinal Jean Claude Hollerich, President of the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) and General Rapporteur of the Synod of Bishops, spoke on the subject of homosexuality in an interview with the German news agency KNA.

The cardinal said: "I believe that the sociological-scientific basis of this teaching is no longer correct”.

He went on:

"the way the Pope has expressed himself in the past [on homosexuality] can lead to a change in doctrine. [ … ] I think it is time for a fundamental revision of doctrine”.

In his "Demos" memo, Cardinal Pell stated:

"Cardinal Hollerich rejects the Christian teaching on sexuality. The Papacy is silent. This is doubly significant because the Cardinal is explicitly heretical; he does not use code or hints. If the Cardinal were to continue without Roman correction, this would represent another deeper breakdown of discipline, with few (any?) precedents in history. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith must act and speak."

And I commented: this is massive - because it is the issue about which most of the young people in the Church are struggling with. They see secular culture embracing it and they see elements in the Church embracing it - they recognise a contradiction between what they understand as Church teaching on this issue and the actions of those pushing the LGBTQI agenda and there is no counter narrative. It just looks like pure hypocrisy!

The US Bishops are wondering how it can be that we could have heretical cardinals and, in his recent EWTN interview, Bishop Paprocki made a fairly obvious reference to Cardinal Hollerich in this context.

Hollerich's remarks caused great scandal to the faithful and resulted in well known Apologists like Trent Horn unpacking his dissent & ignorance of Church teaching on social media.

Now Pope Francis has taken action, BY PROMOTING HOLLERICH TO BE ONE OF HIS TOP ADVISORS!

Pope Francis has appointed new members to his Council of Nine Cardinals advising him on Church governance and reform. Cardinals Maradiaga (until now coordinator of the group), Bertello, and Marx have been replaced by Cardinals Hollerich, Vérgez, Omella, Lacroix and Sérgio da Rocha.

So some villains and heretics leave, some more come in.

It is impossible to see this as anything other than confirmation that the strongest critics of Pope Francis are indeed correct. Just as with the promotion of McElroy over Gómez, one can only see the elevation of the heretical Hollerich to the position of closest advisor evidence that Pope Francis supports his heresy and error.
