The Injustice of Traditiones Custodes

There's no doubt that Pope Francis has caused massive damage throughout the Catholic Church by spreading confusion, lies and misinformation, not to mention promoting seriously compromised and dangerous and abusive men to high office and facilitating liturgical travesties like the Pachamamma worship in the Vatican gardens. But by far the most unjust thing he has enacted is Traditiones custodes. Why? Well, because it singles out those who most want to love Christ, those most loyal to the papacy, and penalises them for their fidelity and faithfulness.

Pope Francis has enacted a Trad exclusion programme.

It seems now, for the first time, even lay people have started to make public their disquiet at the injustice of the situation. And what better place than Chicago, where Bergoglio's (once) favourite (the signs are that this is no longer the case...Which is why he is not in Rome) and McCarrick protégé Blaise Cupich has been swift and draconian in forcing restrictions on any parish with a traditionalist leaning.

Now a Chicago City Alderwoman has written to Cardinal Cupich about his persecution of the ICKSP, and asked for it to end. She clearly recognises the fall out from the closure and how it effects the wider community.

You can read more about the closure here.

What is clear - and therefore so difficult to rationalise - is that those impacted the most by Cardinal Cupich's decision here are faithful Catholic parishioners, those families that call the Shrine their spiritual home. They are not faceless people, they are not “rigid,” “backwardist,” or whatever other derogatory label Pope Francis might want to apply to these individuals. Rather, they are faithful families who take their faith seriously and are simply trying to lead their families and themselves to Heaven.

What can you say about a Cardinal who thinks that these faithful souls are a problem in the Church that needs to be eradicated?

What can you say about a Pope who thinks that?

  2. Letters to the Cardinal or Pope will gain nothing; they will be filed in the trash if they even ever see them.
