Pope Francis named today to the College of Cardinals a pro-gay ultra-progressive who turned a blind eye to sex abuse. Namely, the bishop of San Diego, Robert McElroy. McElroy has distinguished himself by supporting causes close to Pope Francis’s heart and by having a consistent opposition to the teaching of the Catholic Church in a number of areas. He objects to Church teaching on abortion, divorce and “remarriage,” homosexuality, and the priesthood, and was described by America’s Vatican correspondent as being, “recognized in Rome as a top expert on the social doctrine of the church.” McElroy's appointment must be a clear endorsement of the man and his agenda. But it is also a blatant snub to Archbishop Cordileone . This appointment is unthinkable and unworkable in any other papacy as San Diego is suffragan of Los Angeles. But Pope Francis has done worse. In 2017 he made an auxiliary bishop of San Salvador a cardinal while the archbishop was passed over. Absurd, but purposeful.

The synodal Way increasingly appears to be about denying Catholic truth, you know, the truth that saves, the truth that built civilisation and culture - and "listening" to people in error - people pushing sinful positions. Even non-Catholic Christians recognise the very first stage of conversion is purgative: it is recognition of our brokenness and that we need God's help to save us, the help He has given us in Jesus. This fundamental dimension is utterly absent from this whole dialogue. LifeNews reports that rabidly pro-abort Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, was seen at Holy Trinity in Georgetown, Washington D.C. and received Holy Communion. I would expect nothing less from Pelosi, especially given she probably feels completely vindicated having met with Pope Francis in October last year. If she understood the seriousness of her spiritual position she would not be so vehemently supporting abortion. But she is, and this necessitates further action from those seeking to save her. But this horrendous mess of a homily was brought to my attention by a troubled parishioner. You might remember Fox from this post  where he denied the existence of hell. New revelations came to light yesterday about LGBTQI+ author Simon Green thanks to a concerned member of Twitter. As previously reported , Green was cancelled from appearing at a book signing at Saint John Fisher School in Purley after concerned parents wrote to the Archdiocese to point out that Green's books are largely comprised of blasphemy and gay porn. Green threw a fit on Twitter and attempted to rally the gay outrage troops and this worked to a large extent. The techniques are, by now, familiar.
